Reiki

I have been interested in reiki for years now. It's been something I've been researching off and on, here and
there. I would put my toe in the water of the pool of real exploration, but always pulled back because I felt it
was never the right time to fully look into using this energy or doing this sort of "alternative" healing work.
Uncertainty would take hold and freeze me, moving me in a different direction.I flip-flopped more than once.
Eventually, I kind of lost focus on reiki - for the time being, anyway. That's okay, it just wasn't the right time.
More and more I've come to trust the Universe and respect that It knows the best course of action for me......

When Krash, my beautiful APBT, was sick two years ago with hemangiosarcoma,  my aunt was dating a
reiki practitioner.  He offered to treat Krash. I said ok, and when Krash received the reiki and I witnessed his
brightening and surge of strength after each treatment (my first, first-hand experience of reiki), I was
enthralled, and my interest was rekindled. I began to slowly start researching reiki again.  This past year,
more than ever before, I have been in seeking-mode, and experiencing a tremendous amount of change
and personal growth. It was "time" - the healing power of reiki was pushing to enter my life and I finally felt
open enough to let it in.

So I started researching reiki again and suddenly all these resources came into my life. At a clicker training
talk I did at a small holistic pet expo (that I ALMOST didn't decide to do), one of the other presenters ended
up being a Vortex and reiki practitioner. Talking to her, building a friendly relationship with her, and
subsequently sitting in on one of her Vortex healing circles was a powerful and positive thing for me. Soon
after, I became attuned to dolphin reiki - I had never heard of dolphin reiki before, but it made perfect sense
to attune to this energy given my close spiritual and emotional connection to cetaceans. It was soon after
this time that I decided, YES, I am ready to embrace this fully and become a practitioner.  I took a
weekend-long intro course at the Reiki School of America.  I had planned on going back to the RSA to
become a certified practitioner, but price and availability have been factors limiting the feasibility of this
option. I searched around a little online and decided to take a distance course. But what course?

Although my head is always speaking strongly to me, my feelings do as well, and when it came to
choosing a school, I had full intentions of using my feelings as the major guiding force. Through a simple
search online, I found Reiki Blessings Academy. Everything about the Academy and my interaction with the
school's main healer/teacher and my feelings upon first surfing onto the site screamed  "this is your
school!"  An added bonus was discovering that the Academy had an offshoot organization dealing strictly
with animal healing. These are people on a similar path as I.

Today, I signed up for the master course. I am ecstatic about this major move towards personal
enrichment that I hope will also be of ultimate benefit to the people and animals that enter my life, as well
as the Universe as a whole. I hope friends and family and clients will open their hearts to this new and
wonderful thing in my life and allow me to utilize what I learn from RBA to help bring a greater sense of
peace, connectedness and health into their lives.

For those who don't know, reiki is a powerful Japanese energy therapy "discovered" in the early 1900's by
Mikao Usui. Reiki means "universal life force energy" - it is the energy, the power, the breath of life, the
God-force, the chi that runs through all living things and surrounds all of us as it filters through the
Universe. This energy heals, protects, helps us to function on a higher level, and connects us to "God" the
"Universe", "Spirit", "Life". For a variety of reasons, the flow of this energy through living beings can become
stagnant or blocked. Reiki practitioners guide this energy and help it to flow freer and "unstick" the crud that
builds up inside us - physical, emotional, spiritual - that has been accumulated during our time on this
less-than-perfect planent.

Special meditation and use of techniques meant to help the practitioner "tap into and direct" this energy
have been passed down from Dr Usui to practitioners who in turn have passed these things on to other
practitioners. This has created a  "lineage", a line leading directly back to Dr Usui. All practitioners of Usui
Reiki can trace their lineage directly back to Dr Usui (my lineage will as well, once I am fully attuned).

Reiki is becoming more and more popular each year. The National Institute of Health has conducted at
least one study on reiki thus far, and other studies/investigations continue to go on. It is fast becoming an
acceptable alternative therapy along with massage, chiropractic, homeopothy, etc.

Who should receive reiki? Simple - anyone, human or animal can benefit. It is useful for all ailments,
physical or mental (and in the case of animals with behavior issues, as an adjunct to more traditional
behavioral therapies). To help you achieve "balance", for spiritual growth, or just BECAUSE.

Once I am certified, I will begin to offer reiki healing for people and companion animals, either in-home or
through distance healings. To start, these healing will be offered at a very discounted introductory rate. Stay
tuned for more news in the reiki department in the coming weeks.

Thanks for reading and brightest reiki blessings!

Love and light,
~Mary
